Why ‘August Rush’ Is Just What You Need To Jumpstart Your Inspiration…

By Craig Perrine

If you missed the first episode of Pat OBryan’s PortableEmpire.tv show featuring me, Pat, and a special appearance by Joe Vitale, then go spend an hour and share in the fun at Pat’s blog

We had fun, the feedback was heartwarming and I’m grateful that so many people loved what we talked about.

I’m doing a small group ‘Inspiratin to Implementation’ intensive program starting next week, the whole purpose of which is to get entrepreneurs on track to following an inspired idea all the way to seeing it become a reality… and I want to share the first ‘assignment’ I’ve given them - watch the movie ‘August Rush’ (now out on DVD).

Here’s why…

So many folks today are coming from a place of desperation around money and making their business goals come true.

It’s a catch 22 - you may in fact be in a tough spot right now financially, maybe the walls feel like they are closing in.

Maybe you are consumed by dread that if what you are doing right now doesn’t work you might just not make it at all.

So you may be up late at night, basking in the LCD glow from your monitor, searching for the breakthrough you need to finally get where you want so badly to be.

Or maybe, you’re past that point… after one too many disappointments you’ve drifted toward the rocky shore of depression and have lost your way too far to feel like trying again.

I’ve been there… and I think most entrepreneurs have at one point or another in their journey from day job to living their dreams.

Wherever you find yourself right now, know that if you are reading this you are alive and still in the game.

Even if you are chugging along in your business or job and just wanting more… the path of Inspired Marketing is about tapping into something beyond desperation.

Be it hope, passion, a commitment to serving others, or determination to make a difference and love what you do… it’s all there waiting for you (believe it or not, right now).

All too often in our day to day lives we are encouraged to ‘numb up’ and ‘dumb down’ to get along and go along.

What I discovered completely without warning when I watched ‘August Rush’ last weekend was the single largest does of hope, inspiration, and connection that I’ve probably ever had from a movie.

It’s no surprise when you see who is in the cast… Robin Williams (Remember ‘Dead Poet’s Society’, ‘Good Will Hunting’?), Keri Russell (in what I believe was her last film), Johnathan Rhys Meyer, Terrence Howard, and the young gem, Freddie Highmore… I can’t imagine a better collection of actors to play out this story.

It seems every decade or so a movie just captures the human experience at it’s best and just hits one out of the park so far as to leave the atmosphere of earth altogether (think ‘Field of Dreams’)… and this is just such a masterpiece.

Yes, in business and marketing, knowing ‘what’ to do eventually ends up being essential - but feeling what you are doing is beyond just making the bottom line and racking up sales is indespensible to keep you going through the inevitable challenges and heartbreaks along the way.

There are as many ways to find your path as there are people and markets… I’m recommending ‘August Rush’ to help you tap into a dose of pure inspiration, hope, love, and good feelings that should go a long way to tap you into the best you have to give.

Go rent it… or buy it… and take a couple hours by yourself or with like minded/hearted spirits and watch it… you’ll understand, and feel, what I’m talking about.

If the media and those around you are dead set on fretting about how and when the sky will fall at any moment, you have to tap into something greater, something brighter, to guide you.

You get what you focus on, after all!

It’s yours for the watching in ‘August Rush’ on demand… and that is perhaps just what you need right now (whether you know it or not).

Do it today… and let me know what you think in the comments here.

I too just saw August Rush last week while staying at a hotel. The movie was so touching. So moving.

The kid was so determined. Matter of factly about finding his parents. He was happy during his journey which I think is an important point. He was happy and determined about a future goal at the same time.

I also found it touching that people help me in being a genius. Society tends to not look kindly at geniuses and I liked seeing some people trying us kindly.

    Good call Craig, excellent choice.

    Craig,
AWESOME movie. At first blush I thought it would be a “chick flick”. NO, it is VERY inspiring on a lot of levels. One of best movies I have seen in long time. And excellent sound track, lol.
But so many lessons there if you pay attention.

Thanks for sharing it and recommending it.

    Hi Craig,

I hope you are having a great weekend.

I just finished watching the movie “August Rush”. Thank you for suggesting that I watch it. - I really enjoyed it.

What came through for me was the theme of trusting my heart, and also the theme of expecting the best, and never giving up on my goals.

I also enjoyed the theme of synchronicity:

One of the main things that I have learned from Ho’oponopono is that our conscious minds are only aware of 8-10 bits of information, out of millions of bits, which our conscious are not even aware of. - This has taught me to let go and trust, and not try to control what I perceive any situation in my life to be.

The young boy in the movie always trusted and knew what he would be reunited with his parents, and this inner knowing was able to pull him through even the toughest times in his life.

I also like the metaphor at the end of the movie - “The music is all around us, all we have to do is listen”. – I see this daily in my own life, and I know it to be true. There are so many miracles and wondrous things which are taking place moment to moment in all our lives, and all we have to do is tune in, and “make space” in order to hear and experience them.

    Thanks again.
